“Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”

Composed and Arranged by Lexis Barbour

This orchestral piece was inspired by Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” and the Coen Brother’s film adaptation. The title comes from Macbeth’s final soliloquy given in response to the news of Lady Macbeth’s death, which sets the scene for his eventual demise. Musically, my goal was to capture the profound emotions I felt watching the film as Macbeth met his downfall.

I composed the score for the short film, “Mitosis,” in 2022 as part of the mentorship program offered by Sound Thinking NYC, with guidance from my mentor, Emmy award-nominated composer, Paul Brill. “Mitosis” was animated by Michelle Cheng as part of a CalArts 48 hour film challenge.

“For Me” is a solo piano composition I wrote in 2022. It was debuted live at a music showcase at my school, Edward R. Murrow High School. This was one of two songs I have composed that resulted from my experimentation and exploration of polyrhythms.

“Rabbit Hole” is a “piano four hands” duet that I composed in 2019. In the video, I perform it in a recital with my piano tutor, Dayeon Seok.

“Deep in the Vault”

This is an experimental ambient synthesizer orchestration. It was inspired by my research into the history of Robert Moog and analogue synthesizers that I conducted for my College Now Music Technology class at Brooklyn College in Fall 2021.
